Queen’s Green Canopy

The Wymondley Community Garden are proud to be part of the Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC), an initiative to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

“With a focus on planting sustainably, the QGC will encourage planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.”

Through the Wymondley Parish Council, the Wymondley Community Garden have been able to secure three crabapple trees. They were planted in late 2021. These are a wonderful addition to the garden as a source of shade, shelter for birds and a wide range of benefits to the environment.

The initiative encourages us to enhance our environment, as trees specialise in removing excess CO2 from our atmosphere there has never been a more important time to plant more and protect what we have. As well as creating a shared outdoor space for our community we want a sustainable area which will benefit us all in the long term.

Our gardening club sessions are held from 9am-12pm on the third Saturday of every month. Free to attend and all ages and abilities welcome.
